10 Okinawa Purple Sweet Potato Slips – Well Rooted Sweet Potato Vine Live Plant

Details:
Genus: Ipomoea
Cultivar: Okinawa Purple
Native to: Originally from Central and South America, but popularized and widely cultivated in Okinawa, Japan
Best for: Roasting, baking, steaming, desserts, and health-focused recipes due to its high antioxidant content

Growing Instructions:
Climate: Prefers warm, tropical to subtropical climates. Best grown in USDA zones 9–11.
Soil: Loose, well-drained, sandy or loamy soil with pH 5.5–6.5
Planting Time: After the last frost in spring, once the soil temperature reaches at least 65°F (18°C)
Propagation: Usually grown from slips (sprouted shoots from mature tubers) rather than seeds
Spacing: Plant slips 12–18 inches apart in rows 3 feet apart
Sunlight: Full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily)
Watering: Moderate. Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy during the growing season. Reduce watering as harvest nears to prevent rot.
Fertilization: Use low-nitrogen fertilizer to encourage tuber development over leaf growth
Harvest: 90–120 days after planting, when leaves begin to yellow. Carefully dig up tubers.
Storage: Cure in a warm, humid place (about 85°F with 85–90% humidity) for 7–10 days to improve flavor and shelf life. Store in a cool, dark, well-ventilated area afterward.

*ATTENTION:
Plant size may be smaller than described, but they grow very quickly. That’s also why it’s difficult to guarantee an exact size – however, the difference won’t be too significant.
These are starter plants, so their size and appearance may vary depending on the season and shipping time.
It’s recommended to plant as soon as possible after arrival to avoid dehydration, temperature shock, or root damage.
Some yellowing or leaf drop during transit is normal – the plant will recover with proper care in a few days.
Please record an unboxing video for support in case of any issues.
