Growing Instructions:
Climate: Prefers warm, tropical to subtropical climates. Best grown in USDA zones 9–11.
Soil: Loose, well-drained, sandy or loamy soil with pH 5.5–6.5
Planting Time: After the last frost in spring, once the soil temperature reaches at least 65°F (18°C)
Propagation: Usually grown from slips (sprouted shoots from mature tubers) rather than seeds
Spacing: Plant slips 12–18 inches apart in rows 3 feet apart
Sunlight: Full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily)
Watering: Moderate. Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy during the growing season. Reduce watering as harvest nears to prevent rot.
Fertilization: Use low-nitrogen fertilizer to encourage tuber development over leaf growth
Harvest: 90–120 days after planting, when leaves begin to yellow. Carefully dig up tubers.
